New National Standard for Children's Swimming Goggles Takes Effect, Further Strengthening Control of Harmful Substances
In April 2025, China's State Administration for Market Regulation issued the national standard General Technical Requirements for Infant and Children Products—Accessories for Swimming. The standard specifies quantitative limits for goggles designed for children aged 6 to 14, including stricter migration limits for harmful substances such as phthalates and bisphenol A. It also standardizes testing requirements for waterproof performance and comfort.
Industry data shows that following the implementation of the new standard, the market exit rate among small and medium-sized manufacturers reached 15%. Meanwhile, brands possessing Class A infant & children product certification and antimicrobial technology have significantly increased their market share. For instance, sales of children's swimming goggles incorporating graphene-infused materials have grown by 40% year-on-year.
